Police in Jammu and Kashmir alert people about fraudsters impersonating DGPs
On Sunday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police urged the public to exercise caution in the face of an individual masquerading as R. R. Swain, the Director General of Police, who is requesting money over the phone.
According to the police, an identification process is underway, and legal action is being taken.
“This is to inform (other law enforcement officers), colleagues from other government agencies, departments, and members of the public that a fraudster (who is being identified) is impersonating Sh R R Swain, the DGP of Jammu and Kashmir, using the mobile number 8891979985,” the Jammu and Kashmir Police wrote on X.
This con artist is requesting money from a variety of sources, including other law enforcement personnel who he believes may fall victim to his scheme. It said, “Friends, colleagues, and even relatives are requested to be vigilant about this person as well as such persons in the future while legal action under law is underway.”
