Rahul Gandhi will appear in court tomorrow in a matter of slander; ‘Nyay Yatra’ paused: Jairam Ramesh

The current Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will be temporarily put on hold, according to a statement made on Monday by Congress General Secretary for Communications Jairam Ramesh. This is because Congressman Rahul Gandhi has been asked to appear before the Sultanpur District Civil Court about a defamation lawsuit.

“Rahul Gandhi has been summoned to appear in Sultanpur’s District Civil Court tomorrow, February 20, in relation to a defamation case that a BJP leader filed on August 4, 2018,” the statement reads. The Congress politician stated on X that “as a result, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will pause tomorrow morning and will resume the February 20th program at 2 pm from Fursatganj in Amethi.”

Yatra took a little break.
Currently on its 37th day, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will stop on Tuesday morning and restart from Fursatganj in Amethi at 2 pm, according to Jairam Ramesh, who shared the news on social media. The break comes in reaction to Rahul Gandhi’s court appearance summons for February 20th in relation to a slander lawsuit that a BJP leader filed in 2018.

On February 20, the MP/MLA court is expected to question Rahul Gandhi for allegedly disparaging Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a Bengaluru conference in 2018. Vijay Mishra, the BJP District Vice President at the time, filed the complaint.
