Rahul Gandhi will visit Kejriwal’s family and provide legal support: References

Following the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday, Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress party, has reportedly contacted the Chief Minister’s family to reassure them of his and the party’s support.

According to the source, Rahul Gandhi would attempt to meet with Kejriwal or his family on Friday in order to provide more legal support.

On Thursday, a team from the Enforcement Directorate showed up to Kejriwal’s house to question him about the liquor policy matter. Kejriwal was detained under dramatic circumstances during a search operation at his home after the Delhi High Court denied the AAP leader temporary protection from arrest in the liquor policy case. Later, he was brought to the agency’s headquarters by the Enforcement Directorate. The ED office was also visited by a medical team.

Following Kejriwal’s detention, AAP members and leaders came together in support of the leader, as did leaders of the INDIA bloc. BJP leaders emphasized that “truth had to prevail” and backed the ED’s measures against the chief minister of Delhi.

Leader of the Aam Aadmi Party and Delhi Minister Atishi urged the BJP to quit playing politics behind the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday, citing the arrests of two opposition chief ministers and the freezing of a Congress bank account.

She asked the BJP to participate in fair political competition instead of utilizing the ED as a tool or weapon for their political purpose, accusing them of trying to win elections via undemocratic methods.

The BJP is now destroying democracy. They’ve blocked a party’s bank account and detained two opposition chief ministers (one, Hemant Soren of Jharkhand, was sent in prison, and the other, Kejriwal). Does the BJP want to win the election in this way? I want to tell the BJP that they should step up and fight in the political sphere and during elections if they want to. She remarked, “Stop using the ED as a weapon and stop doing politics while hiding behind it.”

Atishi, a minister in Delhi and the head of the AAP, had said that they have petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn Kejriwal’s detention and requested an immediate hearing.

“We have petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn the ED’s detention of Delhi Chief Minister @ArvindKejriwal. In a post on X, Atishi said, “We have requested an urgent hearing by the Supreme Court tonight itself.”
