Raj Thackeray: “I Was the First to Say Narendra Modi Should Be Prime Minister, But…”

Raj Thackeray, the leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), said on Tuesday that “he was the first person in the country who had said that Narendra Modi should be the Prime Minister of India,” praising the central government’s “good work” over the last few years. He did say that “after the 2014 elections, he has not seen the same promises being fulfilled in the last five years.”

Raj Thackeray made the following statement on Tuesday at the party’s Gudi Padwa rally in Mumbai: “Shiv Sena had formed an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party around 1990.” Following that, I became closer to the BJP and got along well with Pramod Mahajan and Gopinath Munde. I traveled to Gujarat and got to know Narendra Modi.”

“I was asked how Gujarat was after I returned from that place.” As I said before, Gujarat is developing, but Maharashtra is much ahead. “I was the pioneer in the nation to advocate for Narendra Modi to be the Prime Minister of the nation,” he said.

But in the five years after the 2014 elections—including the decision to demonetize currency—I haven’t seen the same promises being kept. He emphasized, “I still think that if I see something, I don’t like it.

Though Thackeray acknowledged his earlier criticism of the PM, he clarified, saying, “Yes, I was talking against Modi, but I was with them for whatever good things that happened in the last five years.”

However, I could sense when anything was wrong. However, nothing about it was personal,” he said.
The MNS chairman went on to say that constructive criticism should always be given.

“I sent out the initial tweet in favor of Article 370. I’m attending the demonstration in favor of CAA NRC. I never said anything hurtful to anybody. I refrained from criticizing on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the same manner as Uddhav Thackeray and Sanjay Raut. Given that India is the world’s youngest nation, it is expected of PM Modi to put the country’s youth first and drop everything else. This is the nation’s future,” Raj Thackeray said.

Why Did Raj Thackeray Meet Amit Shah in New Delhi?
Raj Thackeray, who recently pledged ‘unconditional’ support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is made up of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the NCP (Ajit Pawar), and the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde), also disclosed the reason behind his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi last month. The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to take place in ten days.

The firebrand politician said that “the Chief Minister of the state (Eknath Shinde) told me we should come together,” according to people with knowledge of the situation who spoke with Times Now. Devendra Fadnavis said this as well. I met Amit Shah for that reason.”

“I’m not expecting anything. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena would provide unwavering support to the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP once the nation has a strong leadership. Only for Narendra Modi, said Raj Thackeray.

“I refuse to join any other party or depart from the MNS… He said, “I am supporting the Mahayuti only for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha elections.”

The decision by Thackeray was hailed by the chief minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, and the deputy chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis.

Maharashtra’s Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to take place in five stages on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, and May 20. On June 4, there will be a vote count. Maharashtra, a state renowned for its political variety and considerable electoral impact, contributes 48 Lok Sabha seats, making it the second-largest contribution to the lower house of Parliament after Uttar Pradesh. Maharashtra is a major player in determining national politics.
