Road accident near Bowenpally: three detained, driver at large

Days after a truck driver at Dairy Farm Crossroads, Bowenpally, killed two people and wounded one, the authorities determined that the vehicle owner, the flyover contractor, and an internet cable business were all negligent in causing the tragedy. Three out of the five people involved in this crime have been apprehended by the police; the driver is still at large.

The complainant, Akash, and his spouse were riding a motorbike at the intersection on March 24 when the accident happened. The pair had to halt their bike due to a traffic block when they passed the Suchitra traffic light.

They were forced to tumble when a truck driver struck their bike from behind in a hasty and careless move. The vehicle struck two more two-wheelers in front of them before running over Akash’s wife. The driver abandoned the truck and ran away as soon as he stopped it.

After rushing his wife to a private hospital, Akash was told she had passed away by the medical staff. Additionally, he discovered that one victim of the collision had passed away from their wounds and another had suffered severe leg injuries.

The police began looking into the matter after Akash filed a complaint against the motorist. They discovered that the cause of the traffic gridlock at the intersection was a low-hanging internet cable that was strung over the national highway. After a motorcyclist fell because of the cable, those behind him stopped to assist him.

Additionally, the police saw that the contractor in charge of the overpass construction site’s road expansion project had not taken the required safety precautions.

In the meanwhile, the police discovered that the vehicle was not insured, its validity had expired in 2018, and it was not suitable for use. The truck owner had hired a driver to operate the vehicle on the road in spite of these circumstances. The owner also reportedly sent the driver away to escape arrest after learning of the disaster.

After the driver escaped to his home West Bengal, the owner, Arjun Singh, gave fake information regarding the driver’s identity and sent another driver, 35-year-old Roopla Nayak, in his place.
