See | Children from Bhutan Perform Garba Using a Song Composed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi

At Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guesthouse in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, young Bhutanese people dressed traditionally in ghagra-choli and kurta paijama, danced to the beat of a garba song. PM Modi also wrote the song “Garbo,” which they were dancing to.

He was enthralled with their performance and cheered them on when it was over.

Following PM Modi’s interactions with Bhutanese locals and members of the Indian diaspora, the meeting took place. The whole 45-kilometer stretch from Paro International Airport to Thimphu, which was also decorated with Indian and Bhutanese flags, was lined with people welcoming Modi with smiles.

When the Prime Minister arrived at the Paro airport, he was met with a red carpet greeting.

He was originally scheduled to go to the neighboring country on Thursday, but bad weather forced him to reschedule. Additionally, Modi will open the Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Mother and Child Hospital in Thimphu, a cutting-edge facility constructed in the city with support from the Indian government.

The Bhutanese prime minister, Tshering Tobgay, welcomed him ceremoniously and affectionately at the airport in Paro.

The prime minister of Bhutan posted, “Bhutan mein aapka swagat hai mere bade bhai @narendramodi Ji” on X in Hindi. Modi wrote on X before his trip to Bhutan.

In the nation’s capital, enormous banners have been erected to greet the Indian prime minister.

According to a statement released earlier this week by the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit would provide both parties a chance to “exchange views on bilateral and regional matters of interest and deliberate on ways to expand and intensify our exemplary partnership for the benefit of our peoples.”

The statement emphasized that India and Bhutan have “a unique and enduring partnership that is rooted in mutual trust, understanding, and goodwill.”

In 1968, India and Bhutan established diplomatic ties. The 1949 Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, which was updated in February 2007, has served as the cornerstone of ties between India and Bhutan.
