Six offenders are apprehended by the Phagwara police; 14 firearms and 66 live bullets are recovered

By dismantling a well-known gang active in the region, the police claimed to have made significant progress in their fight against crime.

Senior Superintendent of Police Vatsala Gupta made this statement on Friday afternoon during a news conference in Phagwara. She gave a briefing on the special operation that the sub-division Phagwara police team, led by Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti, DSP Jaspreet Singh, and CIA in-charge Bisman Singh, conducted to apprehend anti-social elements. The team was able to capture six of the offenders and confiscate 14 guns and 62 live cartridges from them.

According to SSP Gupta, the Phagwara CIA police team acted on information received, laying nakabandi and apprehending three accused who were travelling in a car: Sukhwant Singh, alias Sukha, a resident of Dhirpur near Kartarpur; Roshan Singh, a resident of Wada Bhai in Ferozepur; and Ajay Kumar, alias Aju, a resident of Ramsar in Ferozepur.

According to the SSP, on March 4, the police found five.32 bore pistols with sixteen live rounds, one.30 bore pistol with nineteen live rounds, one country-made pistol, and a car. However, after additional investigation based on Roshan Singh’s disclosure statement, five more pistols—one.30 bore and four.32 bore—as well as thirteen live rounds were taken from Roshan. She continued by saying that the accused, Sukha admitted during questioning that he was the boss of one local gang and that he was in competition with another local gang, the leader of which is now incarcerated. He had imported firearms from Madhya Pradesh and was going to enlist additional members to fortify his group. She said that information regarding the three accused’s future plans and objectives is being collected, and that they are all committed felons.

SSP Vatsala Gupta said that thanks to a tip, the police were able to apprehend a second suspect who was driving a vehicle close to the Haveli Restaurant. From his possession, the police seized two passports, Rs 9.80 lakh in cash, and one handgun with nine live rounds. The cops, she continued, are checking two passports. The SSP said that additional revelations from the detained suspect, Dildar Singh, a native of Juthewal close to Amritsar, are anticipated.

In their third significant achievement, the Phagwara police successfully broke a robbery case, apprehending two of the perpetrators and seizing a handgun, nine live rounds, a bicycle, a sharp-edged weapon known as a datar, and Rs 2,700 in cash. The apprehended suspects, named as Rakesh Kumar of village Chachoki and Avtar Singh Rana of village Ghumman, were allegedly caught stealing Rs 2 lakh on March 12 from money exchange agent Sanjeev Kumar of M&R Enterprises Hadiabad, according to the SSP.

Most frequent danger: handguns with.32 bore

In the first incident, a CIA team from Phagwara set naka and took into custody three individuals who were driving in a car: Sukhwant Singh, also known as Sukha, a resident of Dhirpur near Kartarpur; Roshan Singh, a resident of Wada Bhai in Ferozepur; and Ajay Kumar, also known as Aju, a resident of Ramsar in Ferozepur. In a another occasion, Phagwara police apprehended a suspect who was driving a vehicle close to the Haveli Restaurant. From the suspect’s possession, the police found one handgun, nine live cartridges, Rs. 9.80 lakh in cash, and two passports.
In addition, the Phagwara police have solved a robbery case and taken into custody two suspects after finding a handgun, nine live rounds, a bike, a datar (a weapon with a sharp edge), and Rs 2,700 in cash. The apprehended suspects, named as Rakesh Kumar of Chachoki village and Avtar Singh Rana of Ghumman village, were allegedly caught stealing Rs 2 lakh from Sanjeev Kumar, a money exchange dealer, on March 12.
