Surat man now eludes authorities after claiming involvement in the Chandrayaan-3 design

A Surat native named Mitul Trivedi, who had earlier claimed falsely to have created the Chandrayaan-3 lander, is now on the lam. Trivedi’s home is apparently secured, and his phone is still off, which heightens the mystery surrounding his assertions.

The Surat crime section of the police has now taken up the continuing investigation into Trivedi’s allegations. Despite being mostly innocuous, according to authorities, Trivedi’s comments illustrate his predisposition for making inflated claims.

Trivedi’s claims were the subject of an inquiry that was given to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Hetal Patel. Trivedi was unable to give any proof of his supposed affiliation with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) after visiting the office of the local police commissioner.

After the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission, Trivedi attracted attention by claiming to have been involved. In contrast to conventional landers, he claimed that his lander’s design had a special feature that prevented dust from being dispersed after landing.

He further claimed that, as of 2013, he had connections to both ISRO and NASA. He even went so far as to claim involvement in the design of ISRO’s Aditya L1 and Gaganyaan Mission as well as NASA’s 2024 lunar human mission.

Trivedi allegedly earned his BSc and MSc in Physics, as well as degrees in Quantum Physics from Cambridge University and Anthropology and Vedant from Oxford University.

He also said that he was a member of the Indian Archaeological Survey and that he could read 45 ancient languages. When an audio tape of Trivedi speaking to his instructor, Arjun Patel, went viral, his notoriety increased.

In the past, Trivedi had said that there was a golden city called Dwarika in the sea close to Olpad in South Gujarat.
