Teams from the Ludhiana administration urge voters to cast ballots

Teams from the government are actively engaged in door-to-door information programs encouraging eligible citizens to exercise their “right to vote” in an effort to reach the goal of above 70% voter participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections.

Awareness campaigns are also being carried out throughout the district’s cities and villages under the auspices of the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.

Door-to-door awareness campaigns took place in many parts of the district on Monday, including the Pakhowal block’s Mehman Singh Wala village, Jagraon’s Leelan Megh Singh village, and Samrala’s Labour Chowk. Voter education events are also hosted in the communities’ common areas.

Additionally, in an effort to raise awareness among the locals, students from Senior National High School and many Dakha schools put on brief skits and held an awareness rally close to Aarti Chowk. Competitions for mehndi and rangoli were organized at many locations, including the Government School in Sahnewal, the Government Senior Secondary School close to Bharat Nagar Chowk, and GGN Public School in Rose Garden.

Additionally, voter registration drives and awareness campaigns were held at Kidwai Nagar’s DD Jain College, Sidhsar (Payal), Textile Colony, and Government College Sidhsar.

While eligible individuals who have not yet registered themselves are being pushed to do so, registered voters are also being asked to cast ballots.

The National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) and the “Voter Helpline” mobile application are available to qualified residents for voter enrollment. Also, people may register to vote by going to www.nvsp.in. By May 3, 2024, they will be able to register as voters.

The district administration’s goals, according to District Election Officer (DEO)-turned-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney, are to guarantee maximum participation in the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to meet the goal of more than 70% voter turnout.

In order to strengthen democracy and contribute to a brighter future for future generations, she urged the locals to vote on June 1st, the day of the elections.

According to the DEO, every effort is being made by the administration to ensure that voters, particularly those with disabilities (PwDs), have a comfortable and easy time casting their ballots at polling places.
