Telangana: BRS gives the BSP two seats

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the BRS ended their seat-sharing negotiations on Friday, with the pink party agreeing to give the BSP two Lok Sabha seats in the state.

In addition to contesting 15 Lok Sabha seats, the BRS will give the BSP the Hyderabad parliamentary seat and the reserved seat for the SC, Nagarkurnool.

Three seats had been the BSP’s demand all along. RS Praveen Kumar, the state president of the BSP, is expected to run from Nagarkurnool. In the most recent elections, Praveen Kumar ran and lost as an unsuccessful candidate from the Sirpur Assembly seat. Palvai Harish Babu, a BJP candidate from Sirpur, became victorious, with Koneru Konappa of the BRS coming in second. Konappa, dissatisfied with the BRS-BSP alliance, has now joined the Congress.
