The father of the Jalalabad AAP MLA is nominated by the BSP for Ferozepur LS

Surinder Kamboj (68), the father of Aam Aadmi Party Jalalabad MLA Jagdeep Goldy Kamboj, was announced by the BSP on Monday as the party’s candidate for the Ferozepur Lok Sabha constituency.

On Saturday, Surinder enlisted in the BSP in Jalandhar. BSP leader for Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, Randhir Singh Beniwal, declared his candidacy in a press statement this afternoon. According to sources, the party decided to field the father of an AAP MLA as a candidate in an effort to unseat the incumbent party.

However, Goldy asserts that he may have his own political connections since he has not been on good terms with his father for a number of years.

In 2022, Goldy, a former Congress dissident who joined the AAP, beat SAD leader Sukhbir Badal to get a seat in the Assembly. The party leadership believes Surinder has a good chance of winning the election because he is a representative of the Kamboj community, which makes up a sizable portion of the local electorate, despite the fact that he has been involved in a number of scandals in the past and even has criminal cases against him.

After Surinder was charged in April of last year in an extortion case, his son said he had broken up with his father and that he was not responsible for any of his illicit actions. It has been stated that Surinder has been involved in politics for more than thirty years. He has held the positions of chairman at the Land Mortgage Bank in Jalalabad and member of the District Grievances Redressal Committee in Fazilka.

Additionally, the BSP has declared Rakesh Suman as their candidate from Hoshiarpur. The party has declared for this to be the second LS seat in Punjab. The BSP and SAD formed an alliance to fight the 2022 elections. The BSP’s state president, Jasvir S. Garhi, promised that the identities of the other contenders will be revealed shortly. Regarding Kamboj’s choice, he said it demonstrated that even the AAP leaders’ families did not support the governing party.
