The first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections may be released today, according to sources at the Congress brainstorming session

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: On Friday, the Congress is expected to release its first slate of candidates for the Lok Sabha. The party met in Delhi on Thursday and discussed potential candidate names with the Central Election Committee (CEC). The party may designate candidates for 60 parliamentary seats on its first list.
The CEC conference reportedly discussed selecting the final candidates for 60 seats spread over ten states. According to other sources, Rahul Gandhi could run from Kerala’s Wayanad district once again.

According to Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, the candidates for Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, and Lakshadweep have been decided upon.

The topic of Delhi seats was also discussed, but as several candidates are being considered for the next election, no decision was made.

For the Delhi Lok Sabha elections, the Congress and AAP have teamed up. The ‘Grand Old Party’ will run for three seats in the capital of the country.

Sandeep Dikshit, JP Agarwal, and Alka Lamba are the candidates being considered for the Chandni Chowk seat.

Arvinder Singh Lovely and Anil Chowdhury are being considered for the North East seat.

Rajkumar Chauhan and Udit Raj are being considered for the North West seat.

Attending the CEC meeting, Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said, “I am not authorized to speak.” A few states were discussed; the other states will be discussed in two to three days.”

“The spokesperson will speak,” said former Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel in response to a question on whether he will run in the Lok Sabha elections.

Congressman Sachin Pilot said, “We had a productive conversation. Every seat was the subject of discussion. You will know as soon as CEC makes a decision. Regardless of the choice made, the the AICC will convene.”

Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala remarked, “You will get good news by tomorrow,” in reference to seat sharing.

Leader of the Kerala Congress and LoP VD Satheesan said, “We are running for 16 of the 20 seats in Kerala at the CEC meeting. Our constituent parties are running for the remaining four seats. The CEC made a decision about the nominees for the sixteen seats today. The applicants’ identities will be revealed by the AICC tomorrow.”

“With respect to the candidates for parliament, we held the first central election committee. We have decided on seats from Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, and Lakshadweep. The process is underway, and a formal announcement is expected very soon,” KC Venugopal, general secretary of Congress, said.

The first list of 195 candidates has already been made public by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Prime Minister Narendra Modi of Varanasi, Home Minister Amit Shah of Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh of Lucknow, and Smriti Irani of Amethi are among the candidates on the list.
