The Karnataka government will introduce the “Gruha Lakshmi” program today

At a ceremony in Mysuru on Wednesday, the Karnataka Congress administration will introduce the “Gruha Lakshmi” program, which would provide monthly assistance of Rs 2,000 to about 1.1 crore women who are the heads of households.

At the well-known Chamundeshwari temple in the district capital of Mysuru, where the scheme would be unveiled by AICC President M. Mallikarjun Kharge at the event that Congressman Rahul Gandhi would also attend, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy D K Shivakumar offered prayers on Tuesday.

According to Siddararamaiah, 1.1 crore women who are the heads of families would get Rs 2,000 per month. He made the announcement to media in his hometown of Mysuru on Tuesday. For the current fiscal year, the government has set up Rs 17,500 crore for the “Gruha Lakshmi” scheme.

One of the five pre-election ‘guarantees’ of the Congress, which removed the BJP from office in the Assembly elections conducted in May, is the “Gruha Lakshmi” plan. At the public event to celebrate the inauguration of the flagship program, an estimated one lakh people are anticipated to attend.

The chief minister had emphasized that Kharge and Gandhi will attend in their respective capacities as the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha and a member of the Lok Sabha.

Three of the five “guarantees” (pre-election commitments) have already been fulfilled by the state government: “Shakti,” “Gruha Jyothi,” and “Anna Bhagya,” and “Gruha Lakshmi” is the fourth.

The ‘Yuva Nidhi’ plan, the fifth, promises to provide jobless benefits to the state’s young people.
