The purchase of land in southwest Delhi for the purpose of an urban extension road was authorized by Delhi L-G

Raj Niwas authorities said on Wednesday that Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) VK Saxena has cleared the purchase of property in southwest Delhi that was essential for finishing the long-delayed Urban Extension Road II (UER-II) project.According to authorities, Saxena has authorized the purchase of more than two bighas of land in Bharthal village, which was necessary for the project’s completion.

The UER-II, which is proposed in the Delhi Master Plan as the third ring road for Delhi with the goal of decongesting Dhaula Kuan and other sections of both outer and inner ring roads by creating a bypass between north and south-west Delhi, was delayed, according to an official, by seven years because the acquisition process could not be finished due to ongoing litigation.

The property in Bharthal hamlet in southwest Delhi was sought to be acquired by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in April 2016. The Raj Niwas official went on to say that the UER-II, which is intended in the Delhi Master Plan as the third Ring Road for Delhi with the goal of decongesting Dhaula Kuan and other sections of both outer and inner Ring Roads, could not be completed due to multiple litigations.

The DDA proposed the UER-II, which would link north Delhi’s Narela, Bawana, and Rohini to Dwarka Sub City, IGI Airport, and Gurugram. It would run from NH-1 to NH-2. Additionally, it attempts to link the NH-1, NH-10, NH-8, and NH-2, as well as all other key national roads, in the western part of Delhi. When UER-II is operational, it will also provide a different route for freight and commuter traffic between Delhi and Gurugram, as well as between southern and eastern Haryana (containing the districts of Ambala, Panipat, Karnal, Rohtak, and Bahadurgarh), and Rajasthan.
