To choose candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi is leading the BJP’s midnight critical meeting

In order to finalize the first list of candidates for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi headed the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) late on Thursday evening.

Senior officials including Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah as well as BJP National President JP Nadda attended the meeting. This occurs while every party is preparing to announce the dates of the Lok Sabha elections.

According to news agency PTI, the meeting started about 10:30 p.m. on Thursday and continued for more than four hours.

In April or May, it is anticipated that there will be general elections. Attending the conference were state leaders from many states, including Goa’s Pramod Sawant, Madhya Pradesh’s Mohan Yadav, Uttarakhand’s Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chhattisgarh’s Vishnu Deo Sai, and Uttar Pradesh’s Yogi Adityanath.

The BJP hopes to declare candidates for more than 50% of the Lok Sabha seats by March 10th. Shortlists naming the top three contenders for each seat have been created.

This was the strategy used in the most recent general election of 2019, which took place a few weeks prior to the announcement of the results. On March 21, the BJP named 164 candidates.

According to sources cited by PTI, a significant portion of the seats that the BJP has targeted to boost its chances after losing such contests in 2019 may be included in the first lists of candidates, adopting the format of the most recent Assembly elections.

In the meanwhile, the Congress wants to complete the Maharashtra seat-sharing procedure as quickly as feasible. Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders are anticipated to gather in Mumbai this evening.
