Today, CM Siddaramaiah will announce the budget

Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah is scheduled to submit the state budget before this assembly on Friday.

He will be presenting his 15th budget and his eighth as chief minister, the most of any CM in the state.

For the five guarantee programs, which are projected to cost the government between Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000 crore a year, all eyes are on the income generating system.

The opposition parties, the BJP and JD(S), have been arguing that the administration cannot undertake any development activity since the guarantee programs have depleted the state purse.

In 2023–2024, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proposed a budget that called for spending 3.27 lakh crore in total. The chief minister is expected to submit the budget, which has an expenditure of Rs 3.80 lakh crore, according to sources. It is anticipated that the credits would exceed one lakh crore.

It is probable that the chief minister would also declare the formation of new districts from the Belagavi and Tumakuru districts.

The CM will preside over a special cabinet meeting to get budget approval before to the budget presentation.

B.Y. Vijayendra, the state president of the BJP, said that they had no expectations for the state budget. He said on social media on Thursday that the state budget will consist of a “bundle of lies and loans.”
