Today, PM Modi will launch the Lok Sabha election campaign from Karnataka, home of Mallikarjun Kharge

Lok Sabha election 2024: According to the party’s state general secretary, V Sunil Kumar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public gathering in Kalaburagi today (March 16) to launch the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign for the Lok Sabha.

AICC President M. Mallikarjun Kharge hails from Kalaburagi, his home area. He was elected to the Lok Sabha twice, in 2009 and 2014, but lost to Umesh Jadhav of the BJP in the most recent general elections. Party sources indicate that Radhakrishna Doddamani, the 81-year-old son-in-law of Kharge, is likely to be fielded by the Congress this time.

On March 18, Modi would also speak at a public event in Shivamogga. Sunil Kumar informed the media at the BJP state headquarters in Delhi.

“On March 16, Kalaburagi, NV Playground will host the public meeting. The Shivamogga festival is scheduled for March 18 at Allamaprabhu Ground.

Karnataka campaigning for elections

The BJP considers Karnataka to be the most significant state in south India since it was the only one in which it had previously held power. In the last Lok Sabha elections, the BJP achieved a landslide, taking 25 of the 28 seats available in the state, while an independent supported by the party also became victorious.

After fighting the elections together as a coalition government led by former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, the Congress and the JD(S) failed to secure a single seat each.

However, since then, a lot has happened on the political scene. In the Assembly elections held in May, the Congress won by a wide margin, taking 135 seats out of the 224 members. JD(S) and BJP both dropped to 19 and 66 seats, respectively. Since joining the BJP-led NDA in September of last year, the JD(S) and the other party have been fighting the elections together.

According to Sunil Kumar, many national figures, including JP Nadda, the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, would visit several Lok Sabha seats and give speeches at public events in the next few weeks.
