After winning the Intercontinental Cup, the CM of Odisha rewards the Indian football team with a $1 billion reward

The Indian men’s football team will get a monetary prize of Rs 1 crore from Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik for winning the Hero Intercontinental Cup. India defeated Lebanon 2-0 in the Intercontinental Cup final at the Kaling Stadium on Sunday night to win the trophy. Sunil Chhetri, the team’s captain, scored his 87th goal in international play. Lallianzuala Chhangte also scored.

“Our state should be very proud to host this important Intercontinental Cup. Congratulations to India for winning against tough opposition. We want to host several such football competitions in Odisha and encourage the development of the sport there and across India, Patnaik stated at the closing ceremony.

Kalyan Chaubey, president of the All India Football Federation, praised the Odisha government for successfully organising the competition.

“The Hero Intercontinental Cup couldn’t have come to a greater conclusion or at a better location. I want to thank the government of Odisha for providing all of the teams that were competing with support and hospitality, as well as for staging such an amazing competition.
