Before the clash with India, Babar Azam claims that Pakistan is in the lead

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, said on Saturday that his team would have an advantage over India in their Asia Cup Super Four matchup thanks to a bowling lineup that is prepared to win games and competitions.

Following the cancellation of their group encounter due to weather, which has disrupted the 50-over event that serves as a warm-up for the 2018 ODI World Cup in India, the archrivals will square off once again in Colombo on Sunday.

Pakistan won their first game of the Super Four round, and another victory will increase their prospects of competing in the final on September 17.

However, it is anticipated that rain in the capital of Sri Lanka may interfere with the game once again, thus a reserve day has been set aside.

Azam told reporters, “You may say we have the advantage as we have played back-to-back cricket here (in Sri Lanka) and in Pakistan.

“The Test series, Lanka Premier League, Afghanistan series, and now the Asia Cup, have all taken place in Sri Lanka over the last two and a half months.

“So you could say it will work to our advantage.”

With 23 wickets between them, Pakistan’s pace trio of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf has stood out and been crucial to the team’s success so far.

Shaheen, the team’s star left-arm fast, shocked India in the first burst of the group game by dismissing captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, two crucial players.

Azam said the group has confidence in its bowlers to deliver victories.

“I’m happy that we have such quick bowlers. The finest (in the world),” Azam said.

“Fast bowlers win you competitions and games, and I really believe this. The lineup we now have—which includes Naseem and Faheem (Ashraf)—is the best we can get. They bowl in partnerships and have the belief.
