Exasperated, Rishabh Pant slammed his bat into the drapes after his exit from the IPL 2024 match against RR

In the 2024 Indian Premier League, Delhi Capitals (DC) lost for the second time in a row as Rajasthan Royals (RR) prevailed in a tight match by a margin of 12 runs. Given that they had the Royals three down for 58 after ten overs and let them reach 185, which was ultimately 10-15 above average on that track, the Capitals would feel like they let this one get away. The IPL saw Riyan Parag come of age with the Royals, and the Capitals have a lot on their plate, particularly with regard to their Indian hitting options.

The way Mitchell Marsh and David Warner started the chase, followed by the left-hander’s takeover and formation of a combination with captain Rishabh Pant, showed that the Capitals were very much on track. Given that there were 10 overs remaining and 97 runs needed, the pursuing side would have bet on finishing the match. It was not to be, however, as the visitors lost Warner and Rishabh Pant in rapid succession. Despite their best efforts, players like Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs were ultimately unable to overcome the loss.

Pant, who scored 28 points off of 26 balls, was obviously upset at the timing of his ejection. Warner, who quickly amassed a 49 off 34 overs, was just removed a few overs before, and Pant’s out to Yuzvendra Chahal severely damaged the chase, particularly because DC still needed 81 runs to win.

Pant crossed the boundary line on his way to the dressing room and, as he went back, whacked his bat against the drapes. Check out the video that has gone viral:

The prospect of what lies ahead for Stubbs is one advantage the Capitals can seize. Given the Indian hitting resources on the team, or lack thereof, Stubbs may fix the Capitals’ middle-order batting woes if he performs the job on a regular basis.
