Former India Spinner Shreyas Iyer and Rajat Patidar Must Give Way Upon the Return of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul

Former spinner Pragyan Ojha believes that when Virat Kohli and KL Rahul rejoin the Test squad for the England series, Shreyas Iyer and Rajat Patidar may be cut. Due to personal reasons, Kohli missed the first two Test matches, while Rahul was injured and missed the match against Vizag.

Since there is still uncertainty around Kohli’s comeback to the team, the BCCI has not released the roster for the previous three Test matches. Rahul, however, is anticipated to recover in time for the remaining games. Rahul hit a fighting fifty in the first Test.

Ojha said that Iyer’s recent performance has caused him to fall behind in the race, forcing him to sit out with Patidar should the senior two rejoin the team.

Shreyas Iyer lagged a little bit behind. Not only do elite batsmen like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul score runs, but they are also guaranteed a spot in the starting lineup when they return. Given the circumstances, it is likely that Shreyas Iyer and Rajat Patidar may have to make way, Ojha said on Colors Cineplex.

The former spinner said that players like Iyer and Patidar will not be able to acquire the cushion when great hitters like Rahul and Kohli return.

“You can’t give them the cushion when great hitters come along and you don’t have enough space, but it’s not that you don’t want to offer chances. The former India spinner said, “So go back and score runs in domestic cricket.”

In the meanwhile, Shubman Gill solidified his place in the team with a century in Vizag. Prior to the second Test, he had been struggling, but his century helped the team and himself square the series at one.

Ojha also praised Shubman’s capacity to manage stress after his combat knock.

Shubman Gill batted well. He seized the opportunity. I’ll be talking about his ability to manage pressure a lot. It’s common knowledge that he is very talented. There’s something unique about representing your nation while playing.

But if you’re being asked the same questions over and over again and things aren’t working out for you, your attitude will help you move ahead. That was one of his most notable qualities. Because he will now know what to do when he finds himself in a similar circumstance, I think this will transform his character,” Ojha said.
