IPL 2024: Following their fifth consecutive defeat, RCB is bound for yet another disastrous season

As it stands, Royal Challengers Bengaluru were under strain even before the IPL 2024, after 16 unsuccessful tries.

social media discussion urged that their men duplicate the success of their women’s team, captained by Smriti Mandhana, who won the Indian Women’s League on only their second try.

However, with five straight losses—including a 25-run loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday—and six losses in seven games, their hopes might be dashed before the real race for knockout berths even starts.

Even with his league-high 361 runs, Virat Kohli hasn’t been able to guide them to victory. In order to win the Orange Cap, the former captain of the Royal Cricket Club (RCB) scored at an average of 72.20 with a strike rate of 147.34, including two hundred and a century.

However, earlier in the competition, they lost to Rajasthan Royals despite his undefeated score of 113.

Poor bowling
Again, their poor bowling was revealed at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where they are based. Earlier in the competition, against the Mumbai Indians, SRH’s 277/3 established the record for the highest IPL total.

They didn’t need a second invitation to take serious aim at the RCB bowlers, as Travis Head hit the fourth-fastest century in IPL history with 102 off 41 balls.

In an attempt to stop the run-bleed, RCB captain Faf du Plessis tried six bowlers, but each one let up more than ten runs per over, with Recee Topley being the most costly at 1/68 in his four overs.

With a record-breaking 287/3, SRH became the highest-scoring IPL squad. In response, RCB scored 262/7, which was both the greatest second innings total and the fifth-highest score in the competition.

However, despite the spectacular performances of Kohli’s 20-ball 42, du Plessis’ 28-ball 62, and Dinesh Karthik’s 35-ball 83, the RCB will have to contend with further concerns as this seems to be yet another lost campaign.
