IPL2024: Abhishek Sharma of the SRH Gives Credit to Yuvraj Singh for His Successful Tournament Run; Former India All-Rounder Retaliates With Funny Post

Abhishek Sharma’s outstanding 37 off of only 12 balls was crucial to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s successful run chase against Chennai Super Kings on Friday. Sharma credited his pre-IPL preparation, which included mentoring from previous batting greats Brian Lara and Yuvraj Singh, for his success.

In the second over, Abhishek, who is just 23 years old, showed off his batting talent by hitting a napping Mukesh Chaudhary for 27 runs, including three sixes and two fours, setting the stage for the 166-run chase. The SRH innings was then led by Aiden Markram, who helped the team win with 11 balls remaining.

“This represents all of my hard work to date. At the post-match ceremony, Abhishek, who was chosen player of the match, gave special appreciation to his father, Yuvi paaji, and Brian Lara.

“We thought the wicket was sluggish while we were bowling. We thus wanted to continue the powerplay. We had plenty of time to get ready before the IPL. We anticipated a sluggish pace, but not if we challenge the bowler. Since it would be challenging for the bowler as well,” the young player, who scored at a remarkable strike rate of 308.33, said.

When asked which he would prefer—a high strike rate or large runs—he said, “I went with the flow today, but big scores matter.” Hopefully, the next time, I’ll leave last.”

Yuvraj fired Abhishek after he made a funny post on X mocking Abhishek for the “shot-selection.” View the post by clicking this link:

Interestingly, Punjab is an Indian state where both Yuvraj and Abhishek are from.
