Officially declared fit to bat as a wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant will return for the 2024 Indian Premier League

After a lengthy 14-month rehabilitation and recovery procedure, star Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has received formal fitness clearance from the BCCI. He will make his competitive cricket comeback during the March 22–25 IPL in 2024.

Pant suffered serious injuries in an automobile accident on December 30, 2022, close to Roorkee, Uttarakhand. He recovered at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru after undergoing procedures in Mumbai.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, the BCCI said, “Rishabh Pant has now been declared fit as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming IPL 2024.”

Pant’s last Indian performance came during the tour of Bangladesh in December 2022. He missed a number of high-profile competitions after the horrifying automobile accident, including the Asia Cup 2023, the 2023 ODI World Cup, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home, and the ICC World Test Championship Final.

Pant has posted a few videos from his rehabilitation workouts on social media as he moves closer to achieving complete health. David Warner, who led the Delhi Capitals in his absence the previous season, will be replaced by the 26-year-old throughout the season.

On March 23, DC takes on the Punjab Kings in Mohali to begin their IPL 2024 season.

Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Shami, two fast bowlers, have been ruled out of the season.

Shami had surgery for his right heel issue last month. Currently, the medical staff at BCCI is keeping an eye on him. Since the ODI World Cup final last year, Shami, who plays for the Gujarat Titans, has not participated in any competitive cricket matches.

Krishna, on the other hand, is being watched after by the BCCI medical staff and is scheduled to return to the National Cricket Academy for rehabilitation after undergoing surgery on his left proximal quadriceps tendon last month.

Krishna sustained the injury during his last game for Karnataka, a 2024 Ranji Trophy group encounter against Gujarat. In the IPL, he plays for the Rajasthan Royals.
