owing to a lower back ailment, Anrich Nortje was ruled out of Australia’s ODI matches; Bavuma will miss the fourth one-day owing to a right adductor strain

Anrich Nortje, a fast bowler for South Africa, has a lower back injury and will miss the next two games of the five-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia, according to Cricket South Africa (CSA), which announced the news on Friday.

The Proteas medical staff will be in charge of the 29-year-old’s return to bowling this weekend after this week’s scans and expert consultation. In due order, a new update will be given, the statement added.

CSA hasn’t yet selected a successor, however.

The revelation that in-form captain Temba Bavuma would also miss the last game of the five-game series due to a right adductor issue has further exacerbated the loss of Nortje.

In place of Bavuma, Aiden Markram will captain the Proteas in the fourth ODI.

Temba Bavuma, the ODI captain, will not be eligible for selection for Friday’s fourth ODI at SuperSport Park in Centurion. Bavuma has been excluded from the game due to a right adductor injury, according to the CSA.

South Africa is behind Australia 0-2 in the five-match ODI series after losing the T20 series 3-0. To tie the series, South Africa must win the last game.
