Prior to the T20 World Cup, Afghanistan will play Sri Lanka and Ireland in all formats

In two all-format series, the Afghanistan cricket squad will square off against Sri Lanka and Ireland before the T20 World Cup in June. Prior to the India series, the Afghanistan Cricket Board acknowledged the hectic schedule on Monday.

In early February, the Afghans will go to Sri Lanka for an all-format series. It will be their debut Test match against the Lankan Lions. It is planned for the game to start on February 2. The next 22 days will see three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and as many Twenty20 Internationals between the two teams. Ireland will then be hosted by Afghanistan in the United Arab Emirates for another all-format series. From February 28 onwards, a Test match will kick off the series. After that, there will be six limited-overs matches, consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is. The last Twenty20 International on March 18 will conclude the series.

Afghanistan has only participated in one Test in over three years, but they will now play two in only 22 days. ODIs have now been added to the already scheduled Test and three T20I matches against Sri Lanka. “Adding these three ODIs is a big step toward ensuring a thorough and all-encompassing tour that will not only give Afghanistan cricket a lot of exposure but also strengthen ties between the two countries.” Afghan Atalan can readily take on the task of playing Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, according to ACB chairman Mirwais Ashraf.

They will play their first-ever bilateral series against India when they take on the 2007 T20 champions for three T20Is starting on January 11. The next travels to India and Sri Lanka, followed by the home series against Ireland, will aid in the team’s preparation for the crucial Twenty20 World Cup. Looking forward to the several series up ahead,” he continued.
