PVL Season 3: Mumbai Meteors lose to Calicut Heroes in Super 5s despite trailing early

The match’s MVP Calicut Heroes began the Super 5s stage of the third season of the Prime Volleyball League on Monday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here with a thrilling 13-15, 15-9, 15-7, and 15-12 victory against Mumbai Meteors. Danial Moatazedi was the star of the show.

Shameem blocked Perotto, but Jerome’s flaming spike was too much for her to handle. Danial Moatazedi, a member of Calicut’s defense, read Amit Gulia perfectly. But the game was in the balance since Shameem was also playing well that evening, shackling Chirag Yadav. Mumbai’s defense gained more tenacity from Saurabh Maan as the Meteors controlled Jerome’s danger and seized an early lead.

With a fierce display, Danial gave Calicut’s assaults new life, and soon they were gaining pace. Mumbai’s defense was shaken by Perotto’s thundering serve. The Meteors were led to a super point by Amit’s spike, but unforced mistakes hurt them. With an offensive performance, Perotto kept Calicut focused on making a comeback, and the team started to dominate the game.

The addition of Vikas Maan helped Calicut even more since he managed the defensive to make things harder for Mumbai’s attacks. Mumbai’s case was not helped by Shubham’s lackluster performance that evening, and Calicut quickly took total command. Jerome flourished at the perfect moment, scoring a vital super point to help his team secure a significant victory.
