To Discuss Outburst with Harmanpreet Kaur, Roger Binny and VVS Laxman will Speak: Jai Shah

President Roger Binny and Director of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), VVS Laxman, will talk with Harmanpreet Kaur over her outburst during the Bangladesh series, according to Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The International Cricket Council (ICC) penalized India skipper Kaur with a two-match suspension for her inappropriate behavior. Due to Indian cricket’s lack of an appeal against the penalty, the right-hander will miss two Asian Games matches.

“Our President Roger Binny and VVS Laxman will speak with her about the outburst,” he said. After the BCCI met with the state associations hosting the 2018 World Cup, Shah informed reporters that the ICC had already banned her and that it was too late to appeal the decision.

The Indian captain has received a lot of criticism from past cricket players and officials after his irate outburst. Madan Lal, a former cricketer for India, called her actions “pathetic” and asked the BCCI to impose stern punishment.

“Harmanpreet’s behavior against the women’s team from Bangladesh was awful. She does not outweigh the competition. She gave Indian cricket a very poor reputation. Lal tweeted that BCCI should use extremely stringent disciplinary measures.

In the third ODI against Bangladesh, Kaur broke the stumps with her bat after being given out by the on-field umpire, and she kept up the antics during the post-match ceremony as well. In addition to the suspension, the Indian captain’s disciplinary record was updated with three demerit points and she was fined 50% of her match fee.

“India captain Harmanpreet Kaur has been suspended for her team’s next two international matches following two separate breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third match of their ICC Women’s Championship series against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Saturday,” said an ICC statement.

Kaur was found guilty of violating article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision,” and was given a fine equal to 50% of her match fee and three demerit points for a Level 2 offense.

Following her conviction for violating rule 2.7, which deals with “public criticism in relation to an incident occurring in an international match,” Kaur was additionally penalized 25% of her match fee for a Level 1 offense, according to an official ICC statement.
