Watch as Sunrisers Hyderabad defeat the Mumbai Indians as Kavya Maran of SRH breaks into an epic celebratory dance

In their debut Indian Premier League (2024) home game, Sunrisers Hyderabad produced an amazing show (IPL). On March 27, the Pat Cummins-led team defeated the Mumbai Indians by 31 runs in an unprecedented high-scoring match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Kavya Maran, the owner of SRH, was in the grandstand and could not contain her enthusiasm when the hosts scored their first-ever IPL victory. MI went crazy early in the chase after SRH scored a record 277/6, but Kavya sprang out of her seat when Rohit Sharma fell, looking elated. Her adorable response was caught on tape by the announcer and went viral shortly after.

Kavya brought a jubilant jig to the earlier match between Heinrich Klassen and Aiden Markram, the South African equivalent, since she could not believe what she was seeing.

For all Indian cricket enthusiasts, not just Sunrisers Hyderabad supporters, it was an unforgettable moment. Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, chose to chase after winning the toss, maybe because the Hyderabad surface is batting-friendly.

When Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma went all out for SRH, the assessment was validated. In the opening 10 overs, both batsmen looked at their lethal best, helping their team score close to 150 runs. Head was bowled out by Gerarld Coetzee after scoring 62 runs in 24 deliveries.

After the Australian opener was removed, Aiden Markram came to the wicket and partnered with the dangerous-looking Abhishek Sharma. With 63 runs in 23 deliveries, the 23-year-old Indian batsman hit seven sixes and three boundaries in his explosive effort.

Heinrich Klassen, another potent batsman, assumed the lead when veteran spinner Piyush Chawla dismissed Abhishek Sharma. In only 34 balls, the South African wicketkeeper-batter hit an undefeated 80 runs. Aiden Markram provided him with appropriate support with a 42-run knock. Based on their efforts, SRH scored the most runs (277) of any team in IPL history.

Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma got the Mumbai Indians off to a good start. But the two didn’t last very long. After they were removed from the game, Tilak Verma showed off his powerful hitting ability by making 64 off 34 balls. In the end, Tim David also put in some effort. Still, it was insufficient to pursue such a large target as MI.
