“Absolutely baseless”: Former DGP of Uttar Pradesh brushes off allegations that Mukhtar Ansari was purged

Lucknow: Mukhtar Ansari’s former Director General of Police (DGP) for Uttar Pradesh, OP Singh, said on Friday that the claims that he was being “poisoned” to death are “absolutely baseless” and that the post-mortem would clarify the “situation.”
In an interview with ANI, Singh said, “A high warning has been issued due to the many speculations that are being propagated around the state.

The government and police are on high alert, particularly in places like Varanasi, Ghazipur, Mau, Azamgarh, and Jaunpur.
“Police officers are cruising the streets, advising citizens to keep calm and refrain from spreading misinformation. In order to avoid appearing in UP courts, Mukhtar Ansari had filed many medical petitions before being imprisoned in Punjab. He said, “He hasn’t always been well and has been sick for a long time.
He said that Mukhtar Ansari was a criminal and that there was no need to give his passing any regard.
The claim that he was being poisoned is completely unfounded. After a postmortem is completed, everything will become crystal clear. “Mukhtar Ansari was a criminal, a don, and a mafia; his passing should not be given much thought,” Singh said.
The son of Mukhtar Ansari, Umar Ansari, said they were going to the courts and that his father had been poisoned by the meal.
He said, “We have complete trust in it. I learned about it from the media; I didn’t hear anything from the government. But everything is now known to the whole country. I went to see him two days ago, but I was turned away. Regarding the accusation of administering delayed poison, we have said before and will continue to do so today. He was poisoned at supper on March 19. We fully trust the judges, and we want to proceed there.”
Mukhtar Ansari’s corpse has been taken to Banda Medical College Hospital, Banda, for a post-mortem in the interim.
According to the hospital’s official announcement, Ansari was transported to the hospital at about 8:25 p.m. According to the announcement, he received care from nine different physicians before passing away.
Ansari was chosen five times to serve as an MLA for the Mau assembly constituency, twice as a candidate for the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). In his native town of Ghazipur, he had a great impact.
An MP MLA court found Mukhtar Ansari guilty of killing BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai in April 2023 and sentenced him to 10 years in jail. In a case involving the use of falsified paperwork to get a weapons licence in 1990, he was found guilty on March 13, 2024, and given a life sentence.
