The 1974 class of IIT Kanpur promises Rs 10.11 crore toward the growth of the institution

The Class of 1974 made a passionate promise to assist different programs at their alma school, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK), of Rs 10.11 crore. Taking place from February 23 to February 25, 2024, the ‘Golden Jubilee Reunion’ of the batch will have over 80 graduates and their families in attendance. This is where the commitment is made.

This kind donation demonstrates the alumni’s unwavering commitment to funding numerous research projects and activities that benefit IIT Kanpur students, and the three-day celebration provided them with an opportunity to reconnect, reflect, and reaffirm their support for the institute’s pursuit of excellence.

“We are extremely proud of our alumni,” remarked Professor S Ganesh, Director of IIT Kanpur, in response to the Class of 1974’s kind donation. “Our alumni have consistently supported the expansion of their alma mater through a variety of means,” he said. This commitment from the Class of 1974 is in line with a shared goal of elevating academic achievement at the institution via investments in facilities, research and development, and extracurricular activities.

The commitment will be used to enhance opportunities for both professors and students, and it will be established as “The Class of 1974 Batch Legacy Fund.”

The Dean of Resources & Alumni of IIT Kanpur, Professor Kantesh Balani, expressed gratitude to the Class of 1974 for their pledge of Rs. 10.11 crore to the institution. This class has established a new standard to uphold their alma mater. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the following people: Yogesh Khosla, Balkrishna Gupta, Ashutosh Garg, Shamik Mehta, Khagesh Maheshwari, Anup Kacker, and the batch organizer, Dr. Anand Jagannathan.

“As the proud alumni of the Class of 1974, we are honored to unite and contribute to our cherished alma mater, IIT Kanpur,” he remarked, thanking his classmates for this endeavor and expressing his thanks to batch organizer Yogesh Khosla. Our combined support is a testament to our great pride in the organization and our common goal of seeing it succeed moving forward. I would want to sincerely thank everyone of my classmates for their kind cooperation in this project.

The Class of 1974’s 50th reunion was a wonderful event full with memories, laughter, and introspection that will live on forever in the records of IIT Kanpur. The “Class of 1974 Batch Legacy Fund” will undoubtedly encourage learning within the group. IIT Kanpur is very appreciative to the Class of 1974 for their outstanding work and steadfast dedication.

As they all work together to shape the future of education and innovation, the institute looks forward to the distinguished alumni’s continuous support and engagement.
