UP CM Announces Rs. 4 Lakh Ex-Gratia After Five Die In Chhoti Gandak River

On Wednesday, the Chhoti Gandak river in the Tarkulwa region of this Uttar Pradesh district saw the drowning of three mothers and two children. According to an official statement, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin of each dead person and expressed sorrow over the lives lost in the event.

According to District Magistrate Akhand Pratap Singh, the event happened while a group of eleven persons were taking a bath in the Chhoti Gandak river stretch that was running close to Ratanpura hamlet in the evening.

Others went to help one of the people who had fallen into deep water and was beginning to drown, but they too finally perished. Two people were saved by the locals and sent to the hospital, while three women and two children perished in the water, according to the DM.

According to the authorities, the dead have been named as Aasheya (40), Shakina (40), and their children Tinku Ansari (12) and Aasheya Khatoon (20). They stated that the corpses had been submitted for post-mortem.
