Police Find Hand Pumps in This Jhansi Village Producing Alcohol Rather Than Water

Lately, Uttar Pradesh’s battle against the illicit alcohol trade has taken an odd turn. The booze mafia seems to have developed a cunning plan to escape law enforcement and increase sales using local techniques, which is a strange and unexpected revelation. They use hand pumps as part of their unusual operating system. You really read correctly.

Numerous handpumps in the Pargana village area of Jhansi’s Kabutra Dera are releasing alcohol instead of water. The cops were able to foil this tactic when they got an anonymous tip about an alleged illicit alcohol sale taking place nearby.

Based on reports that illicit alcohol was being produced in Kabutra Dera, a team from the Excise Department and the police conducted a search and confiscated alcohol from both residences and agricultural areas. When the excise department and the police spotted an unusually high number of hand pumps in the fields, they became suspicious. There were many more hand pumps than were needed to irrigate the farms.

Instead of water, alcohol began to flow out of the hand pump when the authorities turned it on. Following excavation, it was discovered that the hand pumps served only as decorative pieces. Subterranean liquor barrels were positioned just underneath the hand pumps to facilitate the easy sale of alcohol without arousing suspicion.

A joint operation by the police and excise agencies resulted in a raid in Pargana Kabutar Dera, according to Excise Inspector Ashok Ram. 500 liters of illegal alcohol were found during this investigation, and three thousand kg of Lahan—a substance used in the fermenting process—were also destroyed. Two women who were engaged in this illegal activity were also taken into custody.

The booze mafia has a history of operating under this strategy. A hand pump in the Jhansi hamlet of Besariya Dera was shown in a video that went viral last year, leading to several arrests by the police.
