Priyanka attacks the UP government over the Kanpur gang rape incident, saying that being a woman has become a crime under “jungle raj.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a leader of the Congress party, attacked the Uttar Pradesh BJP administration on Thursday for their alleged crimes against women, saying that “being a woman has become a crime in this jungle raj.”

According to the general secretary of the Congress, their father has also taken his own life after two young girls who were raped by gang members committed suicide in Kanpur.

Priyanka Gandhi wrote in Hindi on X, “It is alleged that pressure was being put on the victim’s family to compromise.”

“In Uttar Pradesh, it has been customary to dismantle the families of abused girls and women if they seek justice. Everywhere women were tortured, their families were ruined, from Unnao to Hathras to Kanpur, she said.

“Being a woman has become a crime in this jungle raj where there is no such thing as law and order left,” Priyanka Gandhi said.

She remarked that the state’s crores of women should know what to do and where to go.

Days after they were reportedly raped, two girls were discovered hanging from a tree in a field next to the brick kiln in Kanpur, a hamlet in the Ghatampur district, last month.

Additional CP (law and order) Harish Chandra said that family members have claimed that the young girls were sexually assaulted a few days ago by Ramroop Nishad, (48), his son Raju (18), and his nephew Sanjay (19). He added all three of the suspects were in custody.

The families claim that the accused also recorded the act in order to use it as a kind of blackmail against the 16- and 14-year-old girls, which is why they went to such lengths.
