UP: BJP MLA’s Nephew Arrested For Beating Dalit People Under The SC/ST Act

Police said on Monday that a BJP MLA’s nephew and 11 other individuals had been charged with assaulting several Dalits in this area under the SC/ST Act.

Following the appearance of a video of the alleged event, which happened around a month ago, on social media, action was taken.

Sonu Shukla, a member of the BJP and the nephew of Tulsipur MLA Kailash Nath Shukla, was seen in the video assaulting several Dalits with sticks close to the tehsil gate, according to Superintendent of Police Keshav Kumar.

According to him, an investigation is now taking place after a resident of Sekhuikalan named Rakesh filed a FIR. The MLA, however, denied the accusations and said that certain individuals were attempting to damage his reputation.

The MLA said that “some people in a drunken state entered my nephew’s shop and began beating the employees there, after which he informed the police.”
