US delivery driver wins Rs 80 lakh after buying a lottery ticket on a whim
Purchasing lottery tickets is often done with the hope of winning a large sum of money. Few of them are fortunate enough to get the award in line with their expectations. You’ll start to believe in the proverb “expect the unexpected” after reading this story of a US delivery guy who won the Rs 80 lakh jackpot. Zachary Clements, a fortunate Virginian delivery driver, found a misplaced lottery ticket on his truck seat and was rewarded with an unexpected fortune. From Sheltman’s Gas N Grocery, he bought a Ca$h Corners Crossword scratch-off, but he threw it away and forgot about it.
Clements found the ticket by chance, according to a story on the UPI website. He scratched it off to reveal a $100,000 (Rs 83,04,000) award that might change his life. The delivery driver told Virginia Lottery authorities, “I was pretty excited.” With his gains, Clements intends to reinvest in his delivery company. He has also shown that, sometimes, even in the most unlikely places, the greatest things in life may arrive out of the blue.
According to the state lottery, there is a one in a million chance of winning the top prize in the Ca$h Corners Crossword game. Similar events occurred earlier this month when the Massachusetts State Lottery revealed that two $1 million winners from a single scratch-off game were claimed in less than 30 minutes.
Jonathan Seward, a resident of Sheffield, went to the lottery offices, according to officials, to pick up a $1 million reward from a $5,000,000 100X Cashword scratch-off ticket. Lawrence Troy of Mansfield showed up shortly after and claimed the same amount from the same ticket.
Lawrence Troy of Mansfield and Jonathan Seward of Sheffield both choose to accept their reward as a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes), according to a statement released by the organization.
According to reports, Seward said that after paying some debts, he had a glass of wine in front of a fireplace and scratched his winning ticket. He went on to say later that he intends to use his profits to fund the growth of his company.
