Watch: Fan ‘Beaten Up’ During Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs. Punjab Kings IPL Game After Touching Virat Kohli’s Feet

A fan’s effort to meet cricket player Virat Kohli caused a brief interruption to Monday’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs. Punjab Kings match. The young guy sprinted across the field and landed at the former Indian captain’s feet. The spectator was quickly led off the ground by security as Kohli assisted him in standing up. But now a distressing video has surfaced, in which the fan is shown being physically assaulted by security guards after being removed from the limelight. The guy is repeatedly struck by the black-shirted security guards in the video until another man steps in and breaks up the attack. At the scene are the cops as well.

This unconfirmed video is now making the rounds on social media. This movie was shared by a well-known account on X. The image included the description, “Virat Kohli kind of kalesh with the guys who invaded in field and Security Guard,” before and after the meeting. Since it was posted on March 27, this video has received over 6.6 million views. While many people were outraged by the security guards’ physical assault on the fan, others defended their actions by saying that an increase in spectators on the field presents a major security risk.

One X user commented on it, saying, “We already know the penalties of invading security, but it’s unacceptable that security is treating this individual so severely. You guys should have done investigations and interrogations before performing such treatment. I have no idea what the real circumstances and background of the off-camera incident were. What does it mean to be someone’s fan? that’s why you should never blindly follow someone and always give your parents some serious thought.

“It’s okay for the love of fans towards their favorite cricketer,” remarked another commenter. Cricket players are revered as gods by Indian fans. It’s terrible if he was severely beaten by security guards simply to see his hero. Recall that without fans, a sport cannot exist.

Another commenter had a different opinion, asking, “What if that so-called fan had some little sharp item and wounded the athlete with it? People ought to respect others’ limits, enjoy the game, and either depart or meet up with other players at appropriate player-fan gatherings (if any) that are overseen by security.

“Let’s remember, respect goes both ways,” another individual commented. A peaceful community is dependent on everyone knowing their limits and exercising self control, even when they are excited. Respect is maintained and our relationships are enhanced when passion and responsibility are balanced.
