With a passport and visa, Varanasi’s Street Dog is ready to go to the Netherlands

On the internet, there are many touching stories of individuals adopting animals out of compassion and love and becoming very devoted to them. One such tale originated from the alleyways of Varanasi, where a kind Western visitor from the Netherlands chose to adopt a stray dog that she became close to while visiting India. As per an ANI video, Meral Bontenbel, an Amsterdam-based tourist, formed a close bond with a female stray dog named Jaya in Varanasi while strolling across the city with her other travelers.

She described how the kind and kind street dog greeted her and her company and even went on a stroll with them. The dog’s kind deed captured Meral’s attention, and he impulsively chose to adopt her after falling in love with her.

“I traveled to Varanasi as I wanted to explore the city,” Meral said, adding that she had always desired a dog. As my other travelers and I strolled across the city, Jaya approached us. She was so nice that I fell in love with her right away. After I gave her a hug, she followed us around for the whole day. But one day I saw her on the street being attacked by another dog, and that’s when a security guard came to her rescue. At first, all I wanted was to get her off the streets, so I had no intention of adopting her.

She then decided she wanted to bring Jaya with her, so she decided to remain in India for an additional six months in order to get the dog’s passport and visa. This allowed her to eventually bring Jaya with her. Meral said, “I fell in love with her the first time she walked up to me and I always wanted to have a dog.”

The lady and the dog are seen in a video released by the news agency ANI playing together, and Jaya is also shown getting close to her new pet mother. As they joyfully prepare to depart India and go to the Netherlands, Meral also displays Jaya’s passport and visa.

Meanwhile, at around the same time, a foreigner also acquired another street dog from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Veera Lazzaretti of Italy took in Moti, a male street dog. Before departing for Italy, all the official processes were completed, such as receiving an anti-rabies shot, having a microchip placed, and having Moti’s blood report stamped.
