Bihar Lok Sabha Election 2024: Will JDU Win Or Can RJD Retake Sitamarhi?

Sitamarhi is one of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, and it will be represented in the 2024 Bihar Lok Sabha election. Election outcomes for the Sitamarhi Lok Sabha constituency have been inconsistent, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Janata Dal (United), two regional giants, alternating seats over time with occasional triumphs by the RLSP and Congress in between.

JD (U) candidate Sunil Kumar Pintu defeated RJD’s Arjun Ray by a margin of 2,50,539 votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, regaining the seat from the RLSP, which had won in the 2014 elections.

In a 59.15 percent average turnout, Pintu garnered 5,67,745 votes, while Ray earned 3,17,206 votes.

Phase 5 of the Lok Sabha polls will see elections for the Sitamarhi seat on May 20, 2024. Results will be announced on June 4 after the vote count.

About the Lok Sabha Constituency of Sitamarhi
Following the most recent backlash from party chief and chief minister Nitish Kumar, the JD (U) has re-aligned itself with the BJP-led NDA. In the Bihar Lok Sabha Election of 2024, the regional heavyweight will be vying to hold onto the Sitamarhi seat.

Lalu Prasad’s RJD, a former ally of the JD (U), would be attempting to reclaim the Sitamarhi seat for the opposition INDIA alliance.

From April 19 to June 1, 2024, there will be seven phases of the Lok Sabha Elections, including elections for the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar. The Election Commission has indicated that results will be released and votes tallied on June 4.
