Apple’s sales are steady as a result of growing markets in Africa, the Middle East, and India

NEW DELHI: According to Counterpoint Research’s monthly report, Apple’s sales in 2023 were steady because to a notable increase from developing areas including India, the Middle East, and Africa.

India became the fifth smartphone country in 2023 to sell more than 10 million iPhone units in a single year, according to the research, underscoring the sector’s increasing significance for Apple. “In 2023, Apple’s overall revenue stayed constant despite a decline in its main competitors.”

A major contribution to this stability came from developing markets in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) and India. According to the research, these elements helped the iPhone 15 series’ sales to equal the success of the iPhone 14 series in 2022.

As to the Global Monthly Handset Model Sales Tracker by Counterpoint Research, Apple, a well-known American tech company, managed to secure the seventh rank on the worldwide smartphone sales list in 2023, marking a first for the company. The South Korean technology brand, which moved up one level from the 2022 list, took the last three spots on the list.

It’s interesting to note that since 2021, no other brands have been on the list but these two. Up from 19% in 2022 to 20% in 2023, their combined market share of the top 10 smartphones achieved an all-time high. Half of the sales of Apple’s iPhone 14, which was the best-selling smartphone in 2023, came from the US and China.

Additionally, the model’s proportion of the 2023 iPhone sales was 19%, which is lower than the 28% share of the 2022 bestselling iPhone 13. In Q42023, the iPhone 15 series topped the worldwide bestseller list three times, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max emerging as the best-selling smartphone.

Samsung’s low-cost A series managed to secure three positions in the top ten list because of its robust value offer and availability in several markets and consumer segments. Thanks to strong sales in both the US and India, the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G came in eighth position.
