Elon Musk Explains Why Sam Altman May Have Been Fired: “Something Dangerous For Humanity”
Elon Musk has clarified the possibility that OpenAI accomplished “something potentially dangerous” for mankind, which may have contributed to the firing of former CEO Sam Altman.
For those who are unaware, OpenAI, a major player in generative artificial intelligence, sacked Sam Altman, its former CEO, last week. Sam’s leadership abilities have been questioned by OpenAI, the startup behind the well-known chatbot ChatGPT and the GPT line of large language models (LLMs). And this set off a very strange chain of events.
Elon Musk jumped right into the action, asking Ilya Sutskever why he made such a bold move as to abruptly terminate Altman. Sutskever is a scientist and board member of OpenAI; it’s said that he was a major factor in Sam’s termination from the organization he cofounded. But after all the drama, Sutskever was quick to apologize on Elon Musk’s X (previously Twitter) when Microsoft’s Satya Nadella revealed that Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, and a few other OpenAI members were joining the company, with Sam serving as the project’s CEO.
“I sincerely apologize for taking part in the board’s activities. I never meant to do damage to OpenAI. Sutskever said on X, “I love everything we’ve built together and I will do everything I can to reunite the company.”
Elon Musk then asked, “Why did you take such a drastic action? ” in response to this post. The world needs to know whether OpenAI is acting in a way that might endanger people. This has now sparked a discussion on OpenAI’s responsible advancement towards generative AI.
