Updates on the stock market: Sensex up 50 points, Nifty nears 19,600, while MidCap Index reaches record high

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex opened the day on Wednesday at 65,829 levels, almost 50 points higher than it had on Tuesday. On the other hand, the Nifty50 rose 10 points to a price of 19,585 levels.

The Nifty MidCap100, meanwhile, set a new record high of 40,368.65 in early transactions, maintaining the wider markets’ advantage over their frontline rivals. It increased by 0.6%.

The Nifty SmallCap 100 also saw a 0.4% increase in trading volume on Wednesday.

Sector-wise, the Nifty Pharma and IT indices increased by 0.3%, while the Nifty Bank and Metal indices decreased by as much as 0.9%.
