Why is Elon Musk introducing the Community Notes function to India?

The CEO of X, previously known as Twitter, Elon Musk, has announced that his microblogging network has enabled the Community Notes function for users in India. The nation’s first user-based fact-checking project went live just before the general elections.
The social networking site founded by Elon Musk also welcomed new users from India to its community notes function.

On its official X account, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla said, “Community Notes are now active in India.”

According to the firm, it is the first in the nation to make a contribution: “We’re joining today, and we’ll be expanding over time.”

“We’ll monitor quality as always to ensure that notes are found helpful by people from different points of view,” said X platform.

Contributors to Community Notes are now located in 69 different nations.

“We’re constantly adding more,” the site managed by Musk said.

The firm initially made it possible for users to see “Community Notes” associated with postings on a worldwide scale in December 2022.

By enabling users of X to cooperatively provide context to potentially erroneous messages, Community Notes seeks to “create a better-informed world,” the business states.

Any post allows readers to write notes. If a sufficient number of readers from various viewpoints consider a remark to be useful, the message will be displayed on the post for everyone to see.

“Unless it is determined to be in violation of the X Rules, X will not label, remove, or address a post that has a Community Note,” the business said.

X verified on March 28 that Premium and Premium+ capabilities are available to consumers at no cost. Elon Musk said on X that customers with 2,500 confirmed subscriber followers would get a complimentary subscription to Premium Features. Furthermore, Musk said that Premium+ would be given out for free to individuals who have more than 5,000 confirmed subscriber followers.
