Younger companies in India are now upsetting the status quo: MoS IT

According to Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar, open source systems are now the center of gravity for technology, and younger entrepreneurs in India are now upending the status quo.

The Minister noted three themes that are of importance to startups that are a part of the innovation economy while speaking at the G20 ‘Digital Innovation Alliance’ meeting in Bengaluru.

“The center of gravity of tech, which used to be in a few countries and centred around a few companies is moving to open source systems and younger and younger startups are disrupting the normal,” he said to the audience.

The Minister said, “These tendencies are, in turn, capitalizing on the larger trend of higher and quicker digitalisation that is occurring in the nation.

The extension of the Digital India initiative, with a budget of Rs 14,903 crore, was approved by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday.

According to Ashwini Vaishnaw, minister of railway, electronics, and information technology, the Future Skills Prime initiative would retrain and upskill 6.25 lakh IT workers.

The Center originally introduced the Digital India initiative in 2015, and as part of its current scope, 2.65 lakh individuals will get information security training as part of the program’s information security and education awareness phase.

In his speech to the nation on the 77th anniversary of India’s independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the nation’s startup ecosystem, which is the third biggest in the world.

“Our policies are empowering young strength more. India now boasts the third-largest startup environment in the world thanks to their strength, Prime Minister Modi emphasized.

As of April of this year, the government has designated 98,119 businesses as startups.
