Aamir Khan AND Shah Rukh Khan LOST Sarfarosh? What We Know Is As follows

Key parts in John Matthew Matthan’s 1999 action thriller Sarfarosh are played by Aamir Khan, Sonali Bendre, and Naseeruddin Shah. The movie tells the tale of Ajay Singh Rathod (Khan), a young member of the Indian Police Service who is committed to fighting insurgencies and terrorism beyond international borders. Widely appreciated for its captivating plot and catchy soundtrack, the movie considerably improved Aamir’s reputation in the business. It’s interesting to note that Shah Rukh Khan was originally considered for the main role, but in the end, the Dangal actor was selected.

Aamir’s career trajectory underwent a sea change after making this move, which cemented his standing as a significant player in Bollywood. Director John Matthew Matthan of Sarfarosh said in an interview with Indian Express that at first, Shah Rukh Khan was favored by the filmmakers over Aamir Khan for the role. But things changed when Adlabs owner Manmohan Shetty, who had previously funded two SRK movies (Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and English Babu Desi Mem), pushed John to hire the actor in order to save expenses and reach an agreement with him. But John was certain that Shah Rukh Khan wasn’t the right choice for the part and that he had someone else in mind.

“I informed my buddy Manmohan Shetty, who ran Adlabs, that I wanted to create a movie when we first met. Shetty had founded Entertainment One to make feature films around this period. He had provided funding for two of my friends’ movies, including Shah Rukh Khan in each. The first was Kundan Shah-directed Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa by Vikram Mehrotra, and the other was Praveen Nischol’s English Babu Desi Mem, both starring Shah Rukh Khan. They all advised me to accept Shah Rukh at that point. “Listen, I don’t think Shah Rukh fits my role,” I remarked. They said that if the three of us could work out a contract, we would be able to save more money, but I didn’t want to,” he continued. “I don’t have him on my mind.

John was leaning toward having Aamir Khan play the protagonist. John thought Aamir would be a great match for the role of Ajay in Sarfarosh after seeing a few sequences from the movie Dil, which featured Aamir and Madhuri. John was struck by the honesty portrayed in Aamir’s reactions. The fact that Aamir had mostly featured in love movies up to that point was another element that affected John’s choice. Given that Aamir was relatively new to parts like to the one in Sarfarosh, John believed that fans would identify to him more readily in a different genre. It was a different Aamir before Sarfarosh. He solely wrote love tales. He decided to work on my picture since no one else dared cast him in an action movie, even though he secretly desired to work on unique, realistic movies. But he was nervous while he was filming my movie. He didn’t believe the movie to be commercial. Although I was aware that the movie wouldn’t make waves, it would undoubtedly cause ripples. If I knew a movie wouldn’t make my money back, I wouldn’t invest it. Although I had no idea how much money I would earn, I was sure the movie would pay for itself.”
