Actress Upasana Singh says she had doubts about her part in the Sridevi film Judaai

Upasana Singh, a Bollywood actress, has made appearances in several Hindi and Punjabi popular films. Many people have been won over to her amusing pranks and acting abilities. From the 1997 movie Judaai, she played one of the most iconic roles that became ingrained in the hearts of millions of people. With Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, and Urmila Matondkar as the key parts, the movie received positive reviews from a lot of people.

Upasana Singh played a deaf-mute character in the movie. In the movie, she had two roles. She performed as Paresh Rawal’s wife, on the one hand. She was Johnny Lever’s love interest and his daughter at the same time. Her famous line, “abba dabba jabba,” is what made her famous.

Upasana Singh spoke about the scene and how it affected her career in an exclusive conversation with ETimes. She said that being a huge admirer of Sridevi, she had inquired about the possibility of sharing the screen with the actress while signing the movie. Upasana Singh told the Times of India that she had given yes to the film after the director had answered in the affirmative.

The famous phrase from Abba Dabba Jabba was also brought up throughout the discussion. “I wasn’t persuaded a mute person could communicate simply these words when the director initially informed me about the lines. But I gave up because he persisted,” she said.

“I told myself to try playing characters with different expressions and voices,” she said further. I’ve always enjoyed trying out different roles. The comedian and actress also said that she thought the story of Judaai, in which the woman buys her husband but would rather remain silent, was strange.

“I had my doubts about the reception this movie would get. However, Judaai got so popular that people began to refer to me by my stage name, Abba Dabba Jabba, instead of my own name. I’ve performed live so many times that folks have asked me to repeat that particular exchange.

Upasana Singh will soon be seen in a number of forthcoming movies, such as Rashna: The Ray of Light, Gumnam Hai Koi, Lakkad Ke Laddu, and Lakda Na Laadu.
