After Dulquer Salmaan’s Sita Ramam, Mrunal Thakur Almost Quit Telugu Films: Here’s Why

Mrunal Thakur, who is well-known for her roles in Hindi films and TV shows like “Love Sonia” and “Super 30,” recently spoke about her early hardships and almost leaving the Telugu cinema business after her debut in the genre with “Sita Ramam.” The actress spoke up to Galatta Plus about her struggles and how she overcome them.

Being more used to Hindi and Marathi, Mrunal first had a big hurdle due to his lack of fluency in Telugu. She said that she felt “handicapped” by the language barrier, particularly while lip-syncing and dubbing. There were times, in spite of her best attempts to adjust and learn, when she felt overpowered and considered quitting up.

Her big screen debut in Telugu was in the 2022 film “Sita Ramam.” Mrunal related an incident in which she told her co-star Dulquer Salmaan that she was giving up on Telugu roles. But Dulquer’s love and encouragement caused her viewpoint to shift. She acknowledges that he gave her the courage to learn Tamil and Kannada, among other languages.

After Sita Ramam became popular, Mrunal starred with Nani in the critically acclaimed 2023 film Hi Nanna.

April 5 is when her next Telugu movie, Family Star, which is helmed by Parasuram Petla and also stars Vijay Deverakonda, is scheduled to premiere. Although she has not yet disclosed any new Telugu ventures, Mrunal will also feature in the Hindi movie Pooja Meri Jaan.
