Amitabh Bachchan: ‘Superstitions’ mislead people and shouldn’t be encouraged

Amitabh Bachchan, a megastar, has discussed the idea of “superstitions,” stating that people shouldn’t believe in them since it might lead them astray and that they shouldn’t be supported either.

Big B has been active in a variety of social issues. For example, in 2002, he served as the UNIFEF Goodwill Ambassador for the fight to eradicate polio in India. He served as the spokesperson for the “Save Our Tigers” initiative.

Amitabh has actively promoted the Swachh Bharat Mission as its “brand ambassador.” He was assisting the government in 2020 in disseminating its Covid-19 public health message.

In the “KBC Play Along” special episode, Big B, the season 15 host of “Kaun Banega Crorepati,” invited Finance Executive Saurabh Sengupta from Durg, Chhattisgarh, to the hot seat of the quiz reality program.

Amitabh questioned the participant, “Whether he believes in superstitions?,” while he was discussing the “Super Sandook” topic with Saurabh.

The competitor nodded and said, “Yes, sir, I believe in superstitions.”

After that, he told a story, stating, “Sometimes, when you are leaving for some important work and you see the face of a particular person, and if the day goes poorly, then I try to not see that person the next day.”

“I can’t name that person,” he then chuckled.

The actor of ‘Deewaar’ fame said: “Superstitions come in many forms. Many people think that a black cat will cross their path if it does.

The 80-year-old actor responded: “I don’t believe in this, but my driver believes in it.” Saurabh then asked: “Do you also believe in this (black cat superstition) sir?” My chauffeur does a U-turn. What are you doing, I ask him. “Sir Billi Kaat Gayi Raasta,” he says.

“I have been told if a snake crosses your path, then it means something,” Amitabh said. “However, we shouldn’t adhere to superstitions. Logo ko ye gumraah kar deta (it leads people astray). Big B said, “Usko badhawa nahi dena chahiye (it should not be promoted).
