Before Abbas-Mustan told Kajol THIS during Shilpa Shetty’s death scene in Baazigar, she laughed

At the beginning of their careers, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Shilpa Shetty considered the Abbas-Mustan film Baazigar to be a huge deal. It was a significant turning point for all of them. The movie is regarded as a pivotal point in SRK’s career and one of his early hits. It helped elevate Kajol’s career by bringing her into the mainstream of Hindi film when it became 30 in 2023. Shilpa was also exposed to Hindi films through it. Despite having little on-screen time, she left a lasting impact in her performance as Seema Chopra, Priya’s sister. Abbas-Mustan recently disclosed that Kajol and Shilpa were both barely 17 years old when they signed on to the movie in an interview with a Radio Nasha official.

“Kajol is meant to weep in one of the moments when Shilpa’s character is shoved, falls off the terrace, and dies. SRK comforts her and gets her back in the vehicle. She couldn’t help but giggle when she saw Shilpa laying on the ground, however. Mustan remembered, “I think she didn’t understand the scene because she was only 17 years old.” But according to Abbas, it had nothing to do with her age. She laughed out loud as she saw Shilpa lying with her eyes open. “How can I bring out the emotions? She is supposed to be dead, but her eyes are open,” she said.

After arranging four cameras, they drew Kajol away to discuss the significance of the incident. “We contacted her and instructed her to see your younger sister Tanishaa lying dead on the ground. If you discovered your true sister in a bloody pool, how would you respond? She broke down in tears right away. After getting inside the vehicle, she still couldn’t stop crying. The filmmakers said, “We completed the shot in a single take, and everything she performed in the sequence was natural.

The pair said that they were looking for actresses like Shilpa and Kajol for the parts. They addressed it by saying, “Bekhudi had not been released when we signed Kajol. They continued to aim for it. Upon seeing Kajol at her residence, she was occupied with writing. Mustan responded, “She looked like a child when we saw her perform in the film.” She didn’t bother us at all on the sets and was quite natural. Shilpa was the ideal candidate for the position; we were looking for someone fresh. Since these ladies were minors (17 years old), their parents had to sign the contract for the movie on their behalf.
