Before his show in Mumbai, Ed Sheeran rehearsed singing in Punjabi for two to three days, according to Diljit Dosanjh. “I thought if he managed to sing in Punjabi…,” Dosanjh adds

At the height of his fame, singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh is now promoting his new movie, “Chamkila.” In a recent interview, Diljit discussed luring global music sensation Ed Sheeran to perform in Punjabi at the event. Diljit recounted how he got Ed Sheeran to perform an unexpected thing for his followers.
As he and director Imtiaz Ali promoted their forthcoming movie “Chamkila,” Diljit discussed the planning that went into getting Ed to sing in Punjabi.

Diljit said on the Netflix India YouTube channel, “He had practiced for two or three days and was really excited, so it wasn’t my idea.” A week or ten days beforehand, his band had composed the song and delivered it to us. He believed that even at the last minute, I should continue, even if he was unable to sing. I reasoned that if he could manage to sing in Punjabi, it would be an unprecedented experience for him.
“Nobody ever imagined Ed Sheeran would sing in Punjabi, so that was a big deal to me,” Diljit said. I was just watching him on stage and wishing he would sing more.
At his concert in Mumbai on March 16, Ed Sheeran mesmerized the crowd by performing the song “Lover” with Diljit Dosanjh. This caught a few fans off guard, since they had not expected a crossover of this kind.
Regarding his career, Diljit has been giving some excellent acting and singing performances. He most recently appeared in the supporting role of “Crew,” starring Kriti Sanon, Tabu, and Kareena Kapoor. The singer-actor’s next project is the April 12 premiere of the OTT movie “Amar Singh Chamkila.”
